Abstract: |
ERA partnered with the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT) to analyze soil health and soil carbon among different land-uses such as agroforestry, native vegetation and degraded pasture, to compartively measure the benefits of regenerative agriculture techniques as well as native vegetation conservation. Soil collections in different land uses were carried out at the Family Agriculture School (EFA) in Porto Nacional, Tocantins, in 2022 and 2023. Three variables were used to estimate the soil carbon content: bulk density, organic carbon content and soil depth. The samples were collected by digging until 20 cm of soil at the stipulated points, and the samples were sent to a specialized laboratory for analysis of the main components. For each sampling point, the corresponding carbon stock was calculated using the equation from Veldkamp, 1994. |
